It is with great sadness that the West Branch Football Team would like to offer its condolences to the family of Mark Worrell, who passed away on Monday, June 15, at the age of 52.

Mr. Worrell was the first player in West Branch football history to be named with the honor of playing in the Iowa Shrine Bowl. Worrell, a 1980 WBHS graduate, wore jersey #73 in 1980 Iowa Shrine Bowl.

Mark was/is very well respected and liked in the community. That is solidified in the people voting him as mayor of West Branch in 2013 after serving as a councilman (first elected in 1995).

All of the Bear football players, coaches, support staff, and community offer positive thoughts of peace and support to the Worrell family. To his wife Kathy, his three daughters (Mandy, Stephanie, and Samantha), and all extended family members in the WB community and beyond.

Thank you for your positive contributions on and off the football field.
